French 50- meter butterfly champion, Frédérick Bousquet,
In the photo above Alain Bernard is walking on deck while Frédérick Bousquet accepts his accolades.
Bousquet swam a 22.06, followed by, Alain Bernard, who swam a 22.12, and finally a strong swim by, Amaury Leveaux in a time of, 22.32. All of the above have qualified for the European Championships in Budapest next August but normally the top-four-places would have made to Budapest but, Fabien Gilot, who swam a 22.41 missed the qualifying time for the European Championships by 400-hundredths-of-a-second.

Think you might be ahead of yourself. Finals haven't gone yet. The results you've got are from heats.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, what I misunderstood is that you can qualify for Euro Championships with a time rather than a win.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking like an American in that when they say you qualified, it means to won the final, not hit a set time demand.
this year to qualify for the europeen championship , the french swimmers must swim under a time in the prelim and swim under another one in the final or the semi final in some races and then finish in the 4 first of the final : for the 50 free the heat time was 22.65 .
ReplyDeletethe final result :
1. fred bousquet 21.71 his pb in a jammer
2.fabien gilot 21.97
3.alain bernard 22.08
4.amaury leveux 22.11 all 4 qualify of the europeen championship . i will be posting the race on you tube.

21.71 is bookin'. That is, I think, the 3rd fastest - after Popov's 21.64 and Schoeman's 21.68 - 50-free in textile.
ReplyDeleteI still think you'll see 21.64 go this year.
Love that fact, too, that we're talking about the swims not the suits!
ReplyDeleteIt is fred's personal best in a textile suit .
ReplyDeletetomorow is the heat and the semi final of the 100 free men .
the time cut in the heat is 49.64 to qualify for the euros .
the 2 semi final of the 100 free were fast 4 men under 49.

I have a bunch of photos up at the new site send me an email and we will talk.
ReplyDeleteThat 100 free was blazing, too. We may not see 46-high, 47-low this year but I think we'll see 47-high, maybe 47-mid.
ReplyDeleteThat kid, Yannick Angel, is full-on rocket! Sub-49 speed at 17! Wow and wow again.
I think France has become the new United States & Australia in regards to the swim universe. This has been building since 2007.
ReplyDeleteThey will be unstoppable in the relays. Michael Phelps nor Ryan Lochte will not get a gold medal on a freestyle relay team, especially the 4x100.
