"... I read this on Lochte's official site:
"On day 2, Lochte was at it again, beating Phelps in the 200m freestyle, showing the world a piece of what he plans on bringing to the London Olympics. The talented swimmer is definitely impressing millions of people, exceeding even his own expectations so far in the trials. Read more [...]"
Someone should inform them Lochte lost that race, or, they deliberately lie to their naive fans...."
YEAH, Let's inform them! :-D - As for the photo above -it's explained here: [Link]
Whoops, there is more:
Liliana has left a new comment on your post "A contrarian's view on the Olympic trials!":Here are the offending articles:
There is more of that..this is from "Lochte unfazed by challenge of tackling Phelps" article:
"Lochte beat Phelps in the 200 metres individual medley at the 2009 world championships in Rome then did it again at last year's world championships in Shanghai, and beat him in the 200m freestyle as well."
We all know Phelps didn't even swim 200 IM in Rome...

Thank you.

Thanks for caring enough to post this. It's really annoying how people upload all kind of nonsense. If it's some fan site, that I can understand, but official sites should check the facts before going public.
I do care. A phony resume is a fraud and apparently his people are either not very detail driven or patently sinister.
As for me... I have made the same sort of mistakes but I fall heavily into the former category rather than the latter.
Thank you so much!
The article on Ryan Lochte's official site was written by Alexis Footman of the Sacramento Bee, not by Lochte's people. It is accurate. On day 2 of Trials Lochte did beat Phelps in the 200 free. It was the semi-finals and Lochte beat Phelps by .02. The finals were on day 3 of Trials, which was after the article was published.
If journalists make mistakes, it's not Lochte or his people creating a phony resume.
In her zeal to support Phelps, Liliana spends a scary amount of time trying to discredit Lochte, which is pathetic. Tony don't fall victim to her machinations.
It's lousy journalism and reads like a press release. "beating Phelps..." insinuates complete victory. Prelims and semifinals don't count.
Never in the article was it mentioned they were swimming in a prelim or semifinal and the Lochte camp had the opportunity to state that. Instead they couched it as if the win was both tool and complete.
At Lochte's site it read: "... As the Olympic trials began on June 25, Lochte didn’t waste anytime in challenging Phelps. Both swimmers competed in the 400m individual medley, and it was Lochte who came out on top at the end of the race.
On day 2, Lochte was at it again, beating Phelps in the 200m freestyle, showing the world a piece of what he plans on bringing to the London Olympics. The talented swimmer is definitely impressing millions of people, exceeding even his own expectations so far in the trials ..."
Now tell me that did not read like a press release? Did you notice that there was no mention or correction regarding whether it was a prelim or a final? It was as if they were fine on passing through some incomplete news. Like Liliana, That's my take too.
Also note, Liliana is no Phelps groupie, trust me on that.
"Also note, Liliana is no Phelps groupie, trust me on that."
Wow does she have you fooled. You obviously have never seen her twitter page. Nearly 3,000 tweets and only a handful not about Phelps. not to mention tons of tweets attempting to discredit Lochte. It's sad when you can't be happy for an athlete unless you downgrade his competition.
The Sacramento Bee article may be lousy journalism, but it technically wasn't inaccurate and it wasn't written by Lochte or his people.
Journalists make mistakes constantly. It doesn't mean Lochte has a fraudulent resume. She's using you Tony. Weak.
I can concede is that the Sac Bee was primarily at fault and that the Chicago paper just rubber stamped it as reliable.
With that concession in mind, I won't give up that it was technically inaccurate and irresponsible for Lochte's people not to correct or provide the additional info that the Sac Bee and the Chicago paper seemingly missed or did not didn't understand.
To "anonymous"
The saddest part of this story is how you just won't admit the 'mistake' people on Lochte official site have made, and it's hardly the only one. The fact that I tweet about Phelps doesn't make me a groupie and doesn't explain how Lochte's agents conveniently alter history to make Lochte's portfolio more impressive. The best example is the Gatorade commercial where he said he owned 6 gold Olympic medals. That was laughable. Also, on a previous version of Lochte's site it was said Lochte was 400 IM world record holder and many other half-lies and 'mistakes'. Do not hate me for pointing that out. Maybe you should contact Lochte's management and bring their attention to that subject?
Maybe you should also know that I'm 38 and like I said somewhere else, I've been watching swimming since before Lochte and Phelps were born...I'm hardly a candidate for a 'groupie'. Also, I'm not a native English speaker, but I use Twitter to connect with other swimming fans around the world, with my YouTube followers etc. Let me tell you, most of them are Phelps fans. That's why my tweets are mostly about Phelps.
Wow! You are not a native English speaker and you write this well!
It's amazing how stupid somebody like myself can be and still be successful in America.

The writer of this bio "forgot" to mention that 2010 Worlds were short course competition, less important to most elite swimmers and almost non-important to Phelps. That's what I'm talking about...using half trues (or half lies) to make it sound bombastic.
