- One study published in Medicine & Science in Sports and Exercise found that active recovery immediately after the event encourages recovery and reduces muscle lactate levels faster than complete rest. After hard intervals, one group rested completely while a second group exercised at 30 percent intensity between intervals.
The active group reduced blood lactate levels faster and could achieve a higher power output throughout the workout.
* There is only one way for me to recover from a tough workout or race and it's only three fast words to remeber: Hershy's Chocolate Milk.

I was just reading a discussion board on the USMS website and someone else mentioned chocolate milk.
There are a ton of studies that show that chocolate milk has the perfect blend of fat, protein, and carbs to rebuild your body after a workout, too. Nice -- pass the 'Quik!
I have problems with chocolate. I will eat it or drink it and keep eating it or drinking like a binge alcoholic till I am sick and then I will still keep eating or drinking it after that.
They did a study on people like me and they said the chocolate freaks could not control their impulses to abstain fr a week or more and when they fell off the wagon, it wasn't like a candy bar, it was like a 1/2 gallon of chocolate milk or a pound of solid chocolate.
I get a sense of relief when I eat chocolate or drink it mostly. That is a better delver system for me. It's like all my anxieties go away for a minute or two till I get more.
That is probably TMI
