He did it! Lewis Gordon Pugh is alive and accomplished his task. The first man to swim a kilometer at the north pole. I still think he is a moron but he deserves any recognition he gets. Scott from Canuck Swimmer was the first to report:

In 29 degree water one kilometer is .62 miles!
It's that extra .2 tenths that hurt the most. Nice catch, I didn't see their boo-boo.
Salt water that is 29 degrees is much denser than fresh water that is 78-80 degrees. I wonder if you can swim faster in colder salt water than warmer fresh water?
