Rebecca Soni: Southern California Grand Prix

It's official, Rebecca Soni is unbeatable!

From the L.A. Times:

Rebecca Soni of the Trojan Swim Club blazed in the 200 breaststroke, touching in a 2:05.90. The time was just over a second off her American record from the Pac-10 championships in February 2009.

It's a second off because winning was enough.

I was at the meet tonight... it was awesome to see Soni, Katajima, Grevers, Phelps, Hardy, Vollmer, and all the other elite kids swim fast in the same pool you and me raced in last month!

Rebecca Soni in breaststroke is on the same level with Phelps....

Tough competitor...!!

Understatement!

As usual a total visceral response. Soni ends up losing the in the 100 breastroke the very next day. Roland Mathis of Germany did not lose a single backstroke race from 67 to 73. An upstart, John Nabor, beat him him at the Santa Clara International Swim meet. With the defeat, Roland Mathis, gave John Nabor his german sweat suit out of respect. If we could eliminate the hyperbole, we could actually put things into perspective.

Hyperbole is the way I roll. I am like the "Kramer" of swim analysis. If your looking for measured analysis, measured perspective or measured words, this is the last place you want to go!

I've got typos, I shoot my mouth off, and my readers; such as yourself, know far more about swimming than I do.

Rebecca Soni is still amazing and she lost by .01 of a second and "the empire will strike back"

BTW, was that you Craig?

No, not Craig.

Not sure how long you have been following swimming, but not much value here. Signing off.

That shows me.

Yes. Let's see. I'm guessing Craig M. Nadel. El Segundo High School graduate 1979. UCLA Swimming 79-83.

How am I doing with my superior swimming knowledge.

Anything else you would like to know, grasshopper?

No, Craig Lord.

BTW, Swimming is my recreation not my business

Note that this blog has no advertising - the mission statement is that I accept no gifts , fees, advertising revenue etc. etc. and believe me I have been offered everything from wetsuits, techsuits, sunsreen, and tickets. SO, if you don't want to read my site or tell people how bad it is, tear into me, Sparky! I will still get paid the same and reach the same number of people.

BTW, In 2009 I got 352,000 page views with over 253,000 visitors so, I guess I have something you don't, a soap box and a sense of humor. ;-)
