"... Here’s what NCAP’s Brian Pawlowicz, Tom Ugast, Pete Morgan, and Art Davis heard committee administrative chair Paris Jacobs report:
"Please note, there is a lot of false of information and many ‘attackers’ out there looking to blame USA Swimming. If you have questions, come and ask. You can call USA-S Executive Director, Chuck Wielgus or USA S President Bruce Stratton. Call Paris to ask questions; just don’t automatically assume that what you are ready or hearing is accurate. There are bloggers out there that are attacking our Sport. USA Swimming is ahead in Safe Sport when compared to all other National Governing Bodies. There is a lot of good going on in our sport we need to remember the good and ask questions in order to stay informed...."
Well that shows me! Or does it?
My opinion is that you listen and read everybody and then form your own opinions. The opinion I value the most happens to be the one that originated from a tormented Rick Curl victim named Kelly Currin.
So, what do you think about that? Mr. Brian Pawlowicz, Tom Ugast, Pete Morgan, Art Davis? I don't see you posting Ms Currin's point of view to set the record straight. As Ms Paris Jacobs? All I saw was Chuck Welgus, and David Berkoff spouting scripted rhetoric with incomplete facts.
In fact take the opinion of Susan Woessner, USA Swimming Safe Sport Executive who called the police to get Rick Curl arrested when Mr. Brian Pawlowicz, Tom Ugast, Pete Morgan, Art Davis and Ms Paris Jacobs of the Rick Curl club that Curl founded did not. Ms Woessner also graciously thanked Kelly Currin.
Then take the opinions of former USA Swimming National Coach, Mark Schubert, who said Chuck Wielgus knew of the Rick Curl molestation of Kelly Currin in 2007 and both did nothing about it. Then take the opinion of "Mr. Pants on fire," David Berkoff, who emphatically stated he knew about the molestation of Kelly Currin in the 1990's and was so "gosh, darn, mad" about it that he did "nothing" or "something" about it depending on which version he happens to be bragging or testifying under oath about.
Now, with a straight face Mr. Brian Pawlowicz, Tom Ugast, Pete Morgan, Art Davis and Ms Paris Jacobs explain why some of the people at USA Swimming have no business being blamed?
Shame on all you all and any members of the NCAP club that are willing to drink your "Rick Curl flavored Kool Aid."

I love Paris! Not sure why you are so threatened by this?! She is an example of what the executive board stands for. She and Dave are 2 people that WILL continue to make a difference. Go Paris and Dave!
fact checking... Paris is not with NCAP & never has been.
Though not a member of NCAP, (Rather a BOD of US Swimming) she delivered the message for the public at large to close their eyes and plug their ears. Hence I added her name in the title and her subsequent ties to this whole mess.
She should resign too. There are some really good people at USA Swimming. The executive staff has some problems and this memo illustrates them
Her rhetoric is the same sort rhetoric that the Church of Scientology uses when their parishioners are confronted with bad press. They are told, "Talk to us, pay no attention to what the press or bloggers say. They are suppressive persons."
This is probably over your head.
Here is the facts you requested with a link below.
Paris Jacobs reported as the Eastern Zone Director (as a member of the USA Swimming BoD) – Please note, there is a lot of false of information and many “attackers” out there looking to blame USA Swimming. Now I have a question for you, did I get anything wrong about Schubert, Wielgus, or Berkoff?
I didn't think so.
"There is alot of good going on in our sport we need to remember the good and ask questions in order to stay informed"
What they won't tell you: If you do ask questions, a target will be placed on your back, your kids will be targeted and abused and USA Swimming will claim that they have no jurisdiction over the clubs or LSC's.
I so agree; FINA is that way culturally as well.
So people are supposed to believe USA Swimming and not the bloggers?
Seems like the bloggers have it right. USA Swimming has the means and ways to "sue" the bloggers for defamation if that were the case. USA Swimming knows that the bloggers are RIGHT, therefore, no lawsuits!
I am a loyal reader of your blog & you are right. there are MANY problems in USA Swimming and many are desperately trying to make things right. As a member of PVS, I have to defend Paris. I have watched her work tirelessly to ensure that all the recent cases in PVS are handled & off the deck, in jail, etc.
She is constantly saying we need to continue to do more & we all must be proactive in this. I respectfully say that you have this one wrong. When she decided to run for a board position I asked her why? She is very busy and has small children. Her answer was we need change and if you don't get involved to effect change, we are no better.
I was at this meeting. People were talking about the future of NCAP, the kids, etc. In PVS the rumor mill was out of control. I took her comments as this bad person is out of our sport & we need to focus on the good that swimming gives all of us.
Again, USAS has problems but she has worked VERY hard over the last 2 years to get things changed...I hope you will reconsider your thoughts.
Thank you for the nice note. I view your note as a letter from the noble opposition; and I emphasize noble and I appreciate it very much.
I would certainly reconsider and retract these thoughts about Paris if she retracts her blanket statement about all bloggers.
All bloggers are not bad and 90% or better of USA Swimming staff and management are good.
"My opinion is that you listen and read everybody and then form your own opinions".
I agree with the above statement.
From my experience, USA Swimming and their affiliates want people to believe what they are told. They DO NOT want people to challenge anything they say or do and they certainly do not want people to form their own opinions.
If your gut tells you that they're lying, that things aren't making sense and you go somewhere else for the answer, they will make your life miserable.
Hey "Team Curl" check out these Berkoff emails the FBI has:
http://muchnick.net/berkoffchidaexchange.pdf
You see me blogin', you hatin.'
Wait. Is it team Tony/Allard/Muchnik or Team Curl? Yikes. You sure know how to alienate 99% of the population as I don't think there are very many people on your team or team curl.
You missed the joke... I don't belong to any team. "Team Curl" represent those that don't want you to read the bloggers.
The term "Team Curl" is funny, offensive, and unfortunately, appropriate for far too many coaches and others who are important in swimming.
Thank you. You get the joke.
Bravo Tony! As long as the "innocence" of USA swimming is proclaimed, the NCAP powers that be never have to worry about their own culpability that stems from knowledge of the crimes committed against Kelly Currin.
Remember, the best defense is a good offense.
Thank you... Do you think people will forget that Rick Curl founded the original organization that was later renamed NCAP after he got busted?
that is a great question. 2 of the founding members with Rick are still at the club and coaching every day. I hear they were in court last week and stood up in support of Rick. We all know they knew and they are quietly hiding under the radar. That is disgusting. I would love to see you guys dig into them... Something smells here...
People will forget the association, or rather not care. Our culture is more motivated by success than by ethics, especially when it involves powerful people.
Realistically, it will probably take 30 years to really change. You'd think "how can it continue?". But the military has been dealing with the problem for 30 years.
The entire generation who felt entitled to manipulate young swimmers into sexual relationships will need to retire. That includes those who did so and got caught, those who did so and got away with it, and those who enabled it to happen with silence.
That same generation holds positions of power and they are not showing any inclination to change. With John Leonard, swimming has the fox guarding the chicken coop -- everything is fine; don't pay attention to the commotion created by bloggers.
But at least they have been put on notice that they will be critiqued for failure to act.
My readers should be writing this blog. I read your stuff and think: "what I doing, I suck", these guys say it so much better and so much faster than I can.
I am very proud of my readership and I aspire to write like you all.
