Eamon Sullivan is really pissing off Alain Bernard - Sullivan owns the WR in the 50 LCM Free...AGAIN!

I made that up about Alain Bernard, but if it were me, I would have spit at the TV and then broke down in tears.

The 50 free WR has fallen three times this week. WOW! Especially considering that Popov's WR held for more than a decade.

Here is a link to a higher-rez version: [Link]

Do you think all these records falling has anything to do with all the new suits? I notice most of the swimmers are wearing the LZR...

It appears so but there is not a preponderance of evidence yet. We know Speedo pays the best swimmers to wear their product.

Next month let's see what Hanson, Coughlin, Perisol, and Darth Vadar; (aka Michael Phelps), do! If the Americans are setting world records as easily as the Australians and Frnechman with a meet that is more of a training meet with no taper, then I would commit to saying the "da fix is in!"

Out of the 15 world records set, fourteen were in the Speedo whereas one was in the Arena PowerSkin R-Revolution.

If FINA revokes the suits license, so to speak, it will could Speedo millions of dollars in R&D and millions more from people who want to look fat and go fast.

Wow, Eamon is just off the hook. 21.28, holy cow!

You know, this LZR suit is sort of dammed in both directions. The whole point of it is to be a faster suit -- so if it doesn't work, it's a phenomenal waste of money/investment, and if it does, it becomes the "source" of world records. I think it is what it is, a suit that reduces drag somewhat, and to Tony's point, a suit that is not so coincidentally being worn by the people who are already most likely to be setting WRs.

At any rate, think how many WRs went down at US Olympic Trials in 2004. We shouldn't be all that surpised to see it happening at Australian and European championships in an Olympic year. I can't wait to see what happens in Omaha though!
