2009 SPMA Santa Clarita SCY Masters Meet: Personal best 100-free: 57.54 • Personal best 50-free: 25.64

Ahelee was in that heat as well and she is standing next to me 'stage left.'

FAIL! - Look at the two losers in the air. We are so out-classed by Ahelee for she has the reaction time of antelope! I guess the rest of us need to start playing "Whack-a-Mole" or something to speed up our pathetic slow-motion starts. As for now, time dilates when Ahelee is on the blocks!

The race was close from beginning to end. Look at Ahelee's reach; I am the guy at the bottom of the photo.

I need to work on shoulder flexibility; I am going to work on my kick as well. What happens to people on the third-lap of the 100-free? It's starts off with so much promise and ends in so much pain.

I came in at 57.54, a personal best and I was elated. I even got a blue ribbon after tying for first with a swimmer from Bakersfield. What made the win feel so good is that there were 10-people in my age-group trying hard for that ribbon and I got to share it with all the right people at the swim meet.

Rob of RobAquatics took these photos and I very flattered he shared them. Rob too swam a personal best in the 100 IM by .2 seconds after a 4-second drop 2-weeks earlier at the Cal Tech Pentathlon. Here he is below:

Congrats on those personal best.

I was so privileged to swim with "my favorite SPMA boyz" on either side of me in Santa Clarita!
Even though they SMOKED me every single race...
I was so happy they were swimming out of their minds - FAST, I didn't even care about getting beat!

Good show Tony!

And to think you were nervous about swimming yesterday... you killed it! Good job.

I think I'm going to go to UCLA for sure now, are you going to be there?

Great performances Tony!

Thanks everybody. I need to sprint more 75,s so I can approach that 3rd lap faster. The third lap starts off with so much promise and then I feel my legs and arms.

Way to go Tony. I have not seen the results yet, but the SPMA meets are getting popular. The 50-54 age group is very large. Pacific Masters had our SCAM Spring Break meet at CAL Saturday, some good swims, and also some unfortunate swimming accidents. A swimmer forgot that there was a bulkhead and he swam right into it, causing a laceration on his scalp, other swimmers had difficulty with crashing into the bulkhead too. I did swim all 5 events that I entered, the last event of the day was 50 free and I did 25.65. See you soon

WHOA! only .02 of second away from beating me in the 50-free as well as the 200-free. I guess now I have to go to Clovis.

I tied for first in an event that had 10-swimmers just in my age group.

whats the point of shaving your head if you arent going to shave the goat?

Rob D said...

I shave my head because I'm bald anyways, I leave the goatee as a feng shui balance type of thing. Neither are speed based choices.

I have tested out different facial hair configurations in the name of science. Fu man chu, goatee with and without a mustache, a strip down the middle, etc... none of them seem to make much of a difference.

Rob, I think you look great. You're a handsome guy and with that pork pie hat, you look like a cross between a bebop hipster jazz cat and undercover detective circa 1963.

Tony, how many times have we discussed your start reaction time, or lack thereof, at previous lactic workouts? :) We'll have to start playing the hit-you-with-a-kickboard game!

Dude, I was the second person in the water. Ahelee Sue Olsen has mercury; (quicksilver) for blood.

Okay, okay, I will work it more.
