One USMS Official is a member of the FINA Masters Committee!
Nancy Ridout is a member of both the USMS and the FINA Masters Committee. Heck, I should have been sending her roses for the past 6-months but I only found out today. RATS!
Here is a link to her profile and there is an email link too: [Link]
This is just one of many reasons that SCAQ and other masters swimmers should be represented in USMS and at the USAS convention.
Probably the largest concentrated group of masters swimmers in the country (Los Angeles) and no one at SCAQ knows that Nancy Rideout is the FINA Rep for the US Masters Swimming... ??
Tony, I'm not saying it is your fault that SCAQ is not represented or informed. But considering the strong feelings you and many members share in regard to the tech-suits and other rules, you absolutely should be represented and in the know. In your case, especially about Nancy! (she might still enjoy the roses)
I actually sent her a note. I didn't mention the flowers but I did say that since I started the blog more SCAQ swimmers have joined the USMS possibly then ever before. Oh, and we all wear tech suits!
We *don't* "all wear tech suits!" That should have been fairly evident at the meet this morning.
Except in the case of age-group swimming (where I think they should NEVER have been allowed), I have mixed feelings about tech suits, for others that is. For myself, I'm fairly certain that I'll never wear one. I swim because I love to swim, not because I love putting on suits. So if a suit takes 5 minutes to put on, that's at least 4 minutes and 50 seconds too long. I want to know how fast I can go in the water, not how fast I can go if I can afford a suit as expensive as the guy or gal's in the next lane.

Clay hates tech suits, so does Bonnie... SO you are right.
