What a huge disappointment: U.S. Secret Service now investigating former Fishers swim coach Ken Stopkotte

Ken Stopkotte has failed to appear at two court dates so he is essentially missing and has a warrant out for
his arrest.

This arrest will probably get him banned for life.

From RTV6 ABC NEWS:
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. - A Tennessee judge has issued an arrest warrant for former Fishers swim coach Ken Stopkotte after he failed to appear for two court appearances there this week, a deputy district attorney and court clerk said.

"We don't know where he is," Deputy District Attorney Jessica Borne told Call 6 Investigator Kara Kenney. "We can’t move forward with the case until he is picked up."

Ken has additional arrests for domestic violence and filing false arrest.

I notice that you didn't highlight the part of the linked article that mentions that he stole money out of a church mailbox.

Maybe not such the martyr that you'd like to think he is ...

Your insult has fallen short. way short... I don't have a responsibility to "spoon feed' you so that you don't have to push the hypertext link.

The blog post mentioned that Stopkotte is being investigated by the Secret Service, has a warrant out for his arrest, has missed two court dates. Then there is that section that states he will probably be placed on the USA Swimming banned list and finally a hypertext link to the FOX article that mentions the stolen money from a church.

If you want your "diapers changed" regarding all things Ken Stopkotte, do a Google News Alert...

Ken Stopkotte used the media to further himself and not for the benefit of swimmers or concern for their well being. Anyone that did their research on his history would know that. He was made out to be a victim after his statements on 20/20 but that couldn't be further from the truth. He has his own checkered past and present. Its too bad this doesn't fit with the whole conspiracy theory.

The good that came from that 20/20 news report is demonstrable. There is a Safe Sort program and victims are reporting now.

Of course let's parade all of the best and brightest on 20/20 to make a point. He could have easily been on the other side of that investigation for inappropriate conduct of some sort with the list of various charges he has accumulated. But all for the greater good of course.

Ken Stopkotte in a major way ultimately helped USA Swimming more than he hurt it. (Whistle blowers are important.) Child protection is a major part of USA Swimming's delivery system and I am pleased I helped him get it on the air.

Ken was an opportunist. It is out there and that is a good thing but to claim he is an important part of that is untrue. People that know him and watched the segment were unfortunately immediately skeptical. For that reason its too bad he wasn't thoroughly vetted before making him a voice of concerned coaches. One thing that keeps being missed in these conversations is the importance of individual clubs to research the background of their coaches. I know most clubs do a full background check and screening before hiring. USA Swimming isn't specifically part of the hiring process. I think its important for USA Swimming to act on individuals that have no business working with children but I also want to know the clubs are doing their homework. Everyone needs to do their part. As we know, some coaches (in all sports) with great resumes are not always good people unfortunately.

It's my opinion Ken put the swimmers first. That is what I choose to believe and I see no evidence to dissuade me.

I was 20/20's first choice to be interviewed. I told the producer that it was my opinion that the focal point should be placed on the victims and not my blog.

If you compare USA Swimming to the USA Triathlon Association (USA-T) you will see two dissimilar associations yet both produce Olympic teams.

When USA Swimming decided that they wanted to be in the business of certifying coaches and thereby collecting their money that entailed enormous responsibility and liability. Hence they MUST take responsibility.

USA-T does not have a certification arm but rather offers education courses. Hence, they have accepted no responsibility for coaches and their behavior but USA Swimming MUST because they chose to.
